About Us
My Story
Hi there! My name is Jenn Wyatt, and I’ve been lucky enough to share my life with dogs for over 40 years. My very first German Shepherd stole my heart over 22 years ago with their intelligence, loyalty, and protective nature. However, I noticed that some German Shepherds were being bred into a smaller size with a roach back, which didn’t sit well with me. That’s why I started my search for the original style of German Shepherd, with strong backs and hips – known as Large Old Fashioned Straight Back German Shepherds. At Lakeside StraightBacks, my aim is to help preserve the majestic breed that we all know and love.

Meet Our Dogs
Mom – Clementine
Our breeding females are meticulously chosen based on their health, temperament, and conformity to the breed standard. We ensure they receive the finest care, encompassing regular health examinations and a balanced diet. When you opt for one of our puppies, rest assured, they originate from a mother that has been cherished and nurtured.
Clementine is our breeding female. She is Black & Silver Sable and 3 years old.
Both parents come from long line of original-style German Shepherd Dogs (GSD) that are all hip-certified and DM-clear (degenerative myelopathy clear). They have American Kennel Club (AKC) titles for Canine Good Citizen (CGC), Rally & Obedience.
Dad – Churchill
At Lakeside StraightBacks, we affirm that the paternal lineage is as crucial as the maternal in the journey to healthy, well-adjusted puppies. That’s why our male counterparts are chosen with the same meticulous care, focusing on health, temperament, and fidelity to the breed standard. Our breeding males are not just healthy and active, they exhibit a robust working drive. They are the epitome of versatile excellence – exceptional studs and equally loving family pets.
Churchill is our breeding male. He is a Red & Black GSD and 5 years old.
